Notice to all applicants: to be considered for Summer 2017 vacancies, you must take and pass a Physical Assessment Test (outlined below) on one of the following dates: March 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, or 26. Applicants do not have to possess the required certifications to attend the Physical Assessment Test. If invited to attend the Lifeguard Recruitment Training Program, the City of Ventura will provide the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification at no course fee to the applicant. If hired, there is mandatory pre-service training on June 4, 11, and 16 (times vary).
Those applying for Lifeguard II-Swim Instructor positions are required to obtain their Water Safety Instructor Certification prior to June 1, 2017 independently.
THE POSITION
We are currently recruiting to fill upcoming Lifeguard I and LIfeguard II-Swim Instructor vacancies. These are temporary support staff classifications, paid on an hourly basis.
Lifeguard I ($11.00 to $12.00 per hour)
Under direct supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, plans, organizes and conducts swim lessons and performs lifeguard duties specific to program area. Requirements: Candidates must be at least 16 years of age at time of appointment, successfully complete the physical assessment test and interview process, attend the Lifeguard Recruitment Training Program and possess all of the following certifications by appointment:
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Lifeguard II-Swimming Instructor ($12.00 to $13.00 per hour)
Under direct supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, plans, organizes and conducts swim lessons and performs lifeguard duties specific to program area. Requirements: Candidates must be at least 16 years of age at time of appointment, successfully complete the physical assessment test and interview process, attend the Lifeguard Recruitment Training Program and possess all of the following certifications by appointment:
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 16 years of age at time of appointment, successfully complete the physical assessment test, interview process, and Lifeguard Recruitment Training program.
