English Adventure, the leader in English-language outdoor programs in Japan, is hiring for our upcoming Summer Camp
Job Description
The Waterfront Master is in charge of our managing our waterfront and swimming program. Applicant should have experience in lifeguarding and coaching swimming to elementary school children.
Main Areas of Responsibility
Planning and leading waterfront activities
Performing regular head counts and waterfront safety checks throughout each swimming activity
Preparing campers for activity such as gear safety checks (lifejacket, water shoes, swimsuits etc.) and rule explanation
Assisting in the supervision of campers and supporting other aspects of camp life outside of craft activity times
Japanese ability is not a requirement as our Challenge Camp Team Leaders have Japanese ability and will be accompanying their campers on activities. However, experience working with ESL children is a bonus.
The Waterfront Master will work three out of every four days throughout the camp season.
Camp is hard work! We support the campers from morning until night, but you'll have support staff around you, and some good breaks to make sure that you stay energized and are having fun too.
We are seeking hard-working, fun, and energetic English-speaking staff of any nationality.
Basic qualifications
Age 18 or older
Available for all training and all camp days. Please check job descriptions for further details.
Camp experience
Waterfront activity facilitation, swim coaching or lifeguarding experience
A strong desire to help kids have a blast and make the most of their camp experience
English Adventure is a 100% nonsmoking workplace.
Pluses, but not requirements:
Previous experience working with kids in a camp environment
Japanese language ability
Teaching/leadership experience in outdoor settings
Current Wilderness CPR/First Aid certification
Summer Camp 2019 Schedule
July 14-18: Training (Activity Leaders are asked to arrive earlier to set up their activities: in Japan by July 6th, at the campsite by July 8th)
Camp: July 22 - August 27, with breaks
Camp is from July 22 to August 27 and all Activity Leaders will stay at the camp site during this period. All Activity Leaders will work three out of every four days throughout all camp sessions.
Location: Tsunan, Niigata

Staff Training
English Adventure will provide training, paid at a reduced rate, prior to each camp. Attendance is mandatory for all staff. Our professional training is designed to make camps run smoothly, ensure the safety of our campers and staff, and will ensure you have the confidence necessary to have a great experience throughout the winter, spring or summer.
