We are currently hiring lifeguards for the summer and school year! All lifeguard positions are part-time positions. Training can be provided prior to employment if you are not currently certified. Red Cross, YMCA, and other certifications accepted! We are located in Ventura, California.

What do Lifeguards do?
- Responsibilities include supervising the aquatics area while facilities are in use, and promoting and maintaining a safe, secure and organized pool area. We are seeking responsible individuals who are capable of working alone or in big groups.
- Maintain all areas in and around aquatic area. Keeping within the policies, philosophies and mission set forth by the Channel Islands YMCA association
- Enforce and educate members about aquatic rules and procedures set forth by branch.
- Wash deck, maintain cleanliness and keep pool deck clear of any obstructions.
- Maintain constant surveillance of water and pool deck areas by 10-10 scanning.
- Assist swimmers in distress
- Provide emergency medical assistance as to trained to any person on the YMCA premise as necessary
- Take and record chemical readings set forth by Branch
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and in-services
What we look for in a Lifeguard...
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Current Lifeguard Certification recommended, but the YMCA can provide Lifeguard certification prior to employment.
- Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents, and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations
- Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
