Our goal in the YMCA aquatics Lifeguard program is to provide kids with a safe, fun space in the water to thrive. The YMCA aquatics program is hiring enthusiastic, safety conscious, customer focused individuals with a passion for water safety. Do you love the water? Can you swim 300 yards in the pool continuously? Do you want to make a difference in your community? The YMCA Lifeguard role offers career development, a great mission to get behind and a FUN environment. The aquatics Lifeguard role is a great job for students, someone who has retired or someone in the community who wants to make a difference in the lives of youth!
The Lifeguard will work with diverse populations of all ages and swimming abilities and is responsible for supervising the aquatics area to prevent accidents, assist swimmers and respond to emergencies. They will create a safe, enjoyable and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and satisfaction in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures. The Lifeguard will oversee multiple activities including but not limited to open swim, water exercise, swim lessons and lap swimming.

Qualifications:
• Minimum age of 15, 18+ preferred or required for some roles
• Current nationally accredited lifeguard certification or experienced swimmer with the ability to pass the lifeguard water test – we will train Lifeguarding and rescue techniques!
• BLS and First Aid certifications
• Certification required within 45 days of hire: Oxygen Administration (may not guard until certification is complete)
• Physically able to perform all skills required of a Lifeguard
Responsibilities:
The Lifeguard is responsible for supervising the aquatics area to prevent accidents, assist swimmers and respond to emergencies. The Lifeguard will create a safe, enjoyable and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and satisfaction in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures. The Lifeguard will maintain constant surveillance of the pool area/body of water and oversee multiple activities including open swim, water exercise, swim lessons and lap swimming. Must know all emergency procedures and recognize and respond to emergency situations immediately.
